Help your trees get unstuck.

Trees in suburban yards live a hard life. Compacted soil, construction nearby, drought stress, irrigation patterns, foot traffic, and lawn fertilizer competition all work against them. Surface fertilizing β€” what most homeowners do β€” barely reaches the active root zone. Deep root fertilization injects nutrients directly into the soil 8–12 inches down, where the roots that actually feed the tree are working.

When deep root fertilization helps

  • Recent construction nearby β€” trenching, grading, or compaction in the root zone is one of the slowest tree killers. Fertilization can help offset the stress.
  • Drought-stressed trees β€” leaves wilting, scorching at the edges, or premature drop after a hot dry spell.
  • Sparse or yellowing canopy β€” when overall vigor looks off, but no specific disease is visible.
  • Newly transplanted or younger trees β€” establishing trees benefit from a nutrient boost while their roots develop.
  • Heavily shaded ornamentals β€” Japanese maples, dogwoods, and other ornamentals competing for nutrients in busy beds.

How we do it

  • Honest evaluation first. Cecil Rowe is an ISA Certified Arborist with TRAQ qualification β€” we'll come look at your trees and tell you whether fertilization is going to help in your situation, or whether something else (pruning, watering changes, or just patience) is the right move.
  • Injection at the root zone. Liquid fertilizer formulated for tree species, injected 8–12 inches deep around the drip line in a grid pattern.
  • Best timing is fall and early spring. Fertilizing in mid-summer heat or right before dormancy is less effective. We'll schedule for the right window.
  • Realistic expectations. Fertilization isn't a magic bullet. We'll tell you what kind of response to expect (and what time frame) so you can judge whether it's working.

What we don't promise

Deep root fertilization isn't going to save a tree with severe structural damage, advanced internal decay, or destroyed root systems. It also won't fix specific diseases that need targeted treatment. If your situation calls for something other than nutrition, we'll tell you β€” and refer you to a specialist if needed.

FAQ

Deep root fertilization questions.

How does deep root fertilization work?
We inject liquid fertilizer formulated for trees directly into the soil 8–12 inches deep, in a grid pattern around the drip line of the tree. That puts nutrients right in the active root zone, where surface fertilizers can't reach. Application takes 30–60 minutes for most residential trees.
Will my tree actually recover after fertilization?
Often yes β€” but it depends on what's wrong. Trees stressed by drought, compaction, construction disturbance, or nutrient deficiency typically respond well, often visibly within a season or two. Trees with severe structural damage, advanced decay, or destroyed root systems won't be saved by fertilization. Cecil Rowe (ISA Certified Arborist, TRAQ qualified) will tell you which category yours is in.
When is the best time of year to fertilize?
Fall (October–November) and early spring (February–March) are the best windows for deep root fertilization in Georgia. Mid-summer heat is rough on trees and reduces uptake; mid-winter dormancy means little is happening at the roots. We'll schedule your application for the right window.
How much does deep root fertilization cost?
Pricing depends on tree size, number of trees, and whether we're combining it with other tree work in the same visit. Most single-tree fertilization runs in the low hundreds. Combined visits with multiple trees are more economical per tree. Free estimates β€” call 770-478-1834.
Do you also treat for pests like emerald ash borer?
We focus on visual evaluations, fertilization, and tree care work. Targeted pest treatments (like systemic injections for emerald ash borer) are best handled by specialists with the right licensing. If your situation calls for that, we'll refer you to the right person.
